McCaig-Welles curates Pratt MFA show
Brooklyn, N.Y., March 12, 2005—The Pratt Artist League presents
“Underneath,” a group show, curated by Melissa McCaig-Welles. “Underneath” features fifteen emerging artists who are earning Masters of Fine Arts degrees at Pratt Institute. Disciplines featured include painting, drawing, sculpture, new forms, photography, and printmaking. A closing reception will be open to the public from
7-10 pm on Saturday, April 2, 2005.
“Underneath” is the first in a series of group shows that will take
place outside of Pratt’s Brooklyn campus. “The purpose of these group shows is make our artists’ work more visible and accessible”, says Cheryl Molnar, president of the Pratt Artist League, or PAL, the group organizing the show. “By having shows in well-established galleries and more convenient locations, we hope to increase our exposure.”
McCaig-Welles Gallery has been reputed for showing a wide variety of early to mid-career artists and is pleased to work with the Pratt Artist League for this show. “I really enjoyed seeing the breadth and variety of work through curating the show,” says Melissa McCaig-Welles. The Pratt Artist League is excited to show at McCaig-Welles Gallery.
The show will be on display March 26th until April 2nd at McCaig-Welles Gallery, which is located at 129 Roebling Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday, 11am- 7pm and Saturday and Sunday, 12- 7pm.
